A structured workbook for running a current state versus future state (as-is / to-be) assessment. Rate every capability on a five-level maturity scale, describe both states in plain language, and let the formulas calculate the gap, a weighted priority score and a Now / Next / Later band. A Pain Points sheet keeps the evidence behind each gap, and the Summary shows average maturity, gap by capability area and the size of your priority list. Built for consultants, business analysts and transformation leads preparing a roadmap, business case or ERP program scope.
What's inside
- Assessment: Compare as-is and to-be by capability. Maturity: 1 Ad hoc, 2 Repeatable, 3 Defined, 4 Managed, 5 Optimized.
- Pain Points: Log the evidence behind each gap. Link every pain point to a capability ID on the Assessment sheet.
- Summary: key numbers calculated automatically from your data
- Drop-down lists, worked example rows and formulas you can rely on
How to use it
- Agree the capability areas and the maturity scale with your sponsor before the first workshop. The scale definitions are in the Assessment sheet description.
- Replace the illustrative rows with your own capabilities. Keep each row to one process or capability so the gap is meaningful.
- Write the current state as observed facts, not opinions. Write the future state as an outcome the business can verify.
- Rate current and target maturity, business impact and ease of change. Gap, Priority score and Priority band calculate automatically.
- Log supporting pain points on the Pain Points sheet and link each one to a capability ID, so every gap has evidence.
- Review the Summary with stakeholders, then move P1 items into your roadmap with an owner and target quarter.
- Revisit the scores at each phase gate to show maturity progress over time.
Who it's for
Consultants, analysts and managers who want to structure problems clearly and win and deliver client work with confidence.
