Energy Conservation Program at a Cement Plant
Led a 60-member cross-functional energy conservation team, winning the Star Cement Energy Conservation Summit Award.
Where my leadership started: 60 people, one energy goal, an award and zero breakdowns.
The challenge
Cement mill operations use a lot of energy, and unplanned breakdowns hurt both cost and output. The plant needed lower energy use and more reliable production at the same time.
What I did
- Led a 60-member cross-functional team on the energy conservation program
- Introduced structured resource and maintenance planning for the cement mill section
- Managed sectional inventory, vendor relationships and production control
The impact
- Won the Star Cement Energy Conservation Summit Award
- 10% reduction in section operating costs
- Zero-breakdown production target achieved
Tools and methods
Mechanical engineering, preventive maintenance planning, energy management, inventory and vendor management, team leadership.
